The students are another story. I'd say parents absolutely should NOT send their children here, but they really don't have much of a choice if their child committed a serious violation. The HS students are usually pretty well-behaved and polite, since they want to transition back to their original school. The middle schoolers on the other hand are the worst children I've ever seen in my entire adult life. Not only are the hideously immature, but they are toxically hateful to boot. They fight nearly every single day, they do not respect authority at all, they steal without a second thought, and they populate 3/4 of the school. As a teacher considering working here, I'd say do yourself a favor and refuse to teach the middle schoolers. INSIST on teaching high school and you'll probably love your job.

They allow their students to steal and attack students from students of other schools. They even allow their students to trespass into other schools. This school is doing nothing to keep their students in line. Horrible school. Horrible school district.

All in all, I'd absolutely come back and work at Pinellas Secondary School, provided I got to choose which students I worked with.

This is one of the worst high school in the Tampa bay area . I must say within my 10 years of teaching in the state of Florida I have never seen children with such behavioral issues. This is a secondary school which means the children have been re-assigned to Pinellas secondary school for a reason usually involving an arrest on school premises. I would not recommend this school to a parent even schools like Maverick or Dixie Hollins would be a much better choice for the sake of the child.

There are two distinct sides to this school, one being amazing and the other being less-than-desirable. As a teacher who worked at Pinellas Secondary School, the workplace environment was very positive. The principal and assistant principal are marvelous people. It shocked me how close I got to them and how comfortable I was with them. This is usually not the case at most schools, as principals feel the need to assert distance between them and the teaching staff as an eye roll-worthy attempt to maintain some semblance of a pseudo-hierarchy. It was the total opposite here: Mr. Hammond and Mrs. Ramdohr were very approachable, kind, helpful, and caring. The staff in general is exceedingly familial here. Employment at PSS truly felt like working alongside a community of friendly neighbors.
